Restaurants vs Food courts

It is a given that most people, if they have the money, would like to eat out be it in a restaurant or a food court in the mall. Restaurants offer exquisite menus and table settings with excellent service to boot. However with food courts, you have to queue to get your food and find your own place to sit. But the best thing with food courts is that they offer variety. To have a choice among all the small food kiosks is like heaven for those that want to have a taste of different things at the same time. Personally, I think we are more of the food-court-going kind of people. I remember one such food court in Newport mall in Jersey City. When we go there, before we even decide on what to order, we go around the whole food court and sample the different food the stores have to offer, then we decide. One day, we'll order from 3 different shops and so have Japanese, Italian and Mexican all at the same time. But sometimes for special occasions we also try restaurants for a change. We usually go to a Japanese restaurant to eat ramen, or Thai restaurant to eat Pad Thai. We have tried a South American, American, Indian, Chinese and of course Filipino restaurant. I cannot say that we are really adventurous when eating out because we usually just stick to what we already like to eat. One thing that has been a craze for sometime now are people taking pictures of their food before they eat. Before I only noticed that taking place in restaurants, I thought maybe they are just engrossed on the plating of the food or whatever. However, now, even people that eat on food courts do the same. Be it in a styrofoam or doggy bag, they still take pictures and post it in social media. For a time there, my FB feed just consisted of food people were consuming. Most probably, it is just social media hype.
