Easter Visitors

Last Week, we had visitors from Abu Dhabi, Melbourne and Perth. These are our college friends who kind of converged here in Sydney. It was a major production for team Borje as we prepared for it days in advance. We had to think of their accommodation (who will sleep where?), food preparation (breakfast, lunch, dinner, roadtrip baon), activities and itinerary. But you know as far as these sort of things go, only 50% of those plans come to fruition hehe. So they arrived on a Thursday morning and since I'm still at work, Kenny was the only one who picked them up from the airport and toured them around Sydney CBD. They took to the usual tourist spots and ferry rides. For my part, I have to get off work a little bit earlier than usual to buy some last minute groceries and also El Jannah charcoal chicken. I also cooked sinigang to complement the chicken. I though that they would be here a couple of hours or so after I got home but Kenny said it would be longer than that. So I had a little bit of time to relax and rest before they arrived. At around 9 pm, they came and we had dinner. It was my first time to meet Tasha (Em and Mac's daughter) and also my first time to really get to know Em. I've met her before but didn't really got the chance to talk to her. They seemed to be a little bit tired from the day especially Tasha. After dinner and a few drinks, we settled in for the night. The next day was Kalvin's arrival from Perth. He came straight from the airport. After breakfast (noodles), Kenny and Den got the rental van which we're going to use as we can't all fit in the car. It was a good decision to get a van rather than borrow one more car since we can all have the same experience during the road trip. Then we got ready to go to Bondi. We left the house a lot later than our ETD. When we got to Bondi, we ate lunch first courtesy of left over chicken and some fish and chips that they got there in Bondi. Then we settled in the car van again because it was so hot and I was feeling a bit woozy because of my cold. Before 2 pm, we decided to brave the heat and set up our mat in the sand. It was pretty busy in Bondi that day but not crazy busy. Kenny and me together with Den, Kalv and Mac went for a swim but I didn't last long. I went back to the mat where Em and Tasha was since the waves were really overpowering. But the boys stayed on and took a video of their swim using GoPro.

After some time, we had to get going since they still have a basketball game to go to. It was a long drive going to Stanhope (where the court was) and we were really late. Good thing, they still had 4 open slots left which was what the boys needed since there were 4 of them. The exerted what little energy they had left and enjoyed their games. It was my first time to watch Kenny play too here in Australia. So I took a lot of pictures and some videos too.

For dinner, we went to Pancakes on the Rocks for Kalvin's pre birthday treat! I had ribs and Kenny had pancakes. Waaah!

At home, the boys still continued to have fun because they want to skype with their other overseas friends. They said they slept at 3 am.

The next day, our plan on having a road trip to the central coast got cancelled because everyone was already too tired from the day before. We had breakfast at around 1030 am and just planned on going to the Haymarket for souvenirs. We finally left the house at 2 pm (which was really late) and arrived at the Haymarket around 330 pm. After that and eating a quick meryenda in the food court, we still went to Manly beach. So it was really late when we went back to house for our bbq. We still pushed through with our planned bbq even though it was already 9 pm! It was still fun and we were eating, laughing and telling stories until around 4 am (literally 5 am because of DST)!

The next day was already Sunday. Janine and Den left early for Den's flight to Manila. We had a late breakfast again and slept for a few more hours until we had to go and bring the Caliston's to the airport. After that we went to church with Kalvin and went back home.

Kalvin left on Tuesday to go back to Perth.

The house felt empty again now all the guests have gone. But I felt like it was somehow "bitin". They really need to come back for our long drive to happen at last.
