Singapore Tour - Day 1

Last month we had a short vacation in the Philippines with a quick stop in Singapore.

Day 1.

We arrived in Singapore around 9 am. Upon arriving in Changi Airport we proceeded to where the train stations are. Our friends Jhong and Nez were kind enough to lend us their train passes from when they still lived in SG. We stayed in Village Hotel in Bugis which was just one train ride away from the airport. We had a free hop on hop off tour with that hotel booking so we had to arrive at the hotel around 11 am for the tour bus pick up. We had a hard time locating the entrance of the hotel because it was all the way at the back. Because of that we missed our bus! But when we arrived at the hotel they were gracious enough to let us check in even when it was still around 1130 and check in is usually at 2 pm. They also gave us the complimentary tickets for the hop on hop off buses. After some freshening up inside our room we then proceeded to go to the Singapore flyer where we can catch the next scheduled tour bus. We boarded the bus and saw some of the sights that were uniquely Singapore like Marina Bay Sands, SG flyer, the giant trees in the Gardens by the bay, the CBD and some of the cultural areas like Chinatown and Little India.

After one loop, the bus returned to the SG flyer area and we then boarded another bus with a different route. After two stops we alighted from the bus to look for the Makansutra Hawker centre where we wanted to have lunch. But it was closed that day because of the haze. We just continued our walk until we reached the Merlion and of course took some pictures

we continued our walk through the CBD and eventually found another hawker centre where we had our very late lunch. The food was really cheap maybe because it was a hawker centre but still it was cheaper than I expected it to be. After eating we went back to the hotel to rest. We planned on going to the gardens by the bay but as were really tired we ended up sleeping throughout.
