Caleb's Birthday at Sydney Zoo

Last month we celebrated Caleb's 3rd birthday at Sydney Zoo. THis zoo is fairly new as it only opened December of 2019. It is located at Bungarribee in the Western Sydney Parklands, in Greater Western Sydney. It is around half an hour away from our place. We made a plan to go there for Caleb's birthday as we can't really have a birthday party and it is outdoors. The weather that day was overcast. I was realy hoping that it wouldn't rain as it has been raining for the past few days. Good thing the rain held up until we got home. We went there around 11 am (after breakfast) and since we already booked our tickets online, getting in was easy. They don't offer paper maps anymore but there were a lot of vicinity maps inside so you won't get lost. They have a huge number of animals there from all parts of the world, including Asia, Africa and of course the native animals of Australia. We brought the pram so Caleb (and us!) won't get that tired as there was a lot of walking involved.
We asked Caleb what he wanted to see first and he opted to see the zebras, giraffes and lions. So we went there first. Maybe because of the weather, most of the animals were a little bit just too relaxed, just sitting and lounging inside their enclosures. We then followed the trail going around the zoo. We saw elephants, kangaroos, koalas, meekats and so much more. They even have a space for the nocturnal animals, in which you have to enter a very dark room. The zoo also have a ferris wheel and we rode that too, this was not included in the ticket price, you have to pay extra. It was Caleb's first time to ride it but he wasn't afraid. And after finishing the whole trail, we then went to have lunch in one of their restaurants. It was a fun day out for Caleb's birthday. Good thing we were able to do that because juts a few days after, Greater Sydney was back to a stricter lockdown. For dinner, Caleb wanted to eat at a restaurant. but since there were more covid cases popping up again, we just decided to have delivery instead. Here's to Caleb's3rd year! Very different this year than other years but still worth celebrating! Cheers!
