Port Stephens

Before the year ends, and as part of our Christmas vacation, we went to Port Stephens. Originally we just planned on going to Newcastle but since the accommodation I booked was already near port Stephens, Kenny decided that we go and see the place instead. We started our trip at around 11 am after breakfast and all the baon preparations. According to the GPS it would take us approximately 2 hours to get there but since there was some holiday traffic (but not close to Manila traffic, thank goodness!), it took us around 2 hours and 40 minutes to get to our accommodation which was in Raymond Terrace. After checking-in, eating lunch, and resting for awhile, we headed to Nelson Bay which was a beach area in Port Stephens. We had a stroll on the beach first, before deciding if we should go for a swim or not. The water was a bit cold that day even though the weather was in the mid 20 degrees. And there were actually dolphins you can see from the shore. They are around a hundred meters from the shore but they were lots of them. Some people paid for a cruise so they can come really close to the dolphins bit since you can actually see them from the shore, I don't think it'll be worth the price of the cruise. Not to mention our not so good experience with whale watching maybe that's why I'm biased with this cruise. Anyway, we swam for maybe thirty minutes. The water was not that clear and there were seaweeds lining the seabed. I miss the clear waters of Boracay because of this hehe. So after half an hour, we decided to take a shower. We then ate at the fish and chips shop there and had magnum ice cream as we walked towards the marina and the boats. It was now early evening but the sun was still shining brightly but the breeze was starting to get cool. The sea was serene for most of the time and we just spent hours sitting on the marina, making kwento about our lives. Mostly, the stories have been told before, some of them recycled but still fun to talk about. Others, future plans and dreams that are yet to come true. Around 8 pm we decided to head back to Raymond Terrace before it gets dark on the road. It was really a nice and quick get away from our suburban lives. The next day, we checked out at 10 am and headed back to Sydney. It took us around the same time to get back. We arrived in our apartment around noon and rested. Here are some pictures I took in Port Stephens:
