Floriade 2014
We went to Canberra 2 weeks ago to see the Floriade flower festival. It was our first out of town drive together, and one of our couple friends also came with us. We started our trip here at around 730 in the morning. It was a long drive but a picturesque one at that. We had one stopover in a gasoline station for a toilet break. We then reached Canberra city centre at around 11 am. After we met up with our friends, we had a quick lunch courtesy of our baon (packed lunch). Then we rode in a double decker shuttle bus that goes around the city. We got off at Commonwealth park where the flower festival was being held.
After that we walked for thirty minutes to go to the war memorial. We got there just in time for a memorial service since it was part of a hundred year celebration of the first world war.
After a quick tour of the place, we started to walk back to our car. It was another 30 minute walk. Whew! Then we headed to the hotel we booked for the night. After checking in, having dinner, and playing Taboo! game with our friends, it was time for some shut eye!
The next day, we had breakfast at the hotel and checked out. We then proceeded to the Parliament House where we had a guided tour with some other tourists. We had a chance to go inside the House of representatives and the Senate.
Then we headed off to see the Australian National Museum. I didn't have much pictures inside but we had some outside hehe!
Now it was time for lunch. We went to Manuka shops and had lunch in a thai restaurant. After that it was now time to head back to Sydney. The drive home took three hours too but somehow it felt longer on the way back, I had to talk a lot and sing my heart out just to keep both of us awake. But, nevertheless, we really enjoyed our time there, with the view, with our friends and also with our time together.
